How to Donate to Penguicon
Penguicon costs between $60,000 and $80,000 to put on each year. Luckily, most of that money is spent on the weekend itself and we will not have most of those costs this year. Our Souvenir book and schedules, for instance, as well as all of the food and beer for ConSuite, and rental of the actual programming spaces in the hotel, are all large expenses we will not have.
However, the convention also pays for things like a storage unit, business licensing, software services like Sched and our site hosting, and other year-round or early annual expenses that we cannot avoid. So, while we were lucky enough to get our contract moved to next year, with Penguicon not happening in 2020, we will experience a loss. And honestly, this year we were already running on a very tight budget.
Many of you have offered to simply donate the cost of your badge or let us transfer it to next year. This is extremely generous, and will go a very long way toward helping us stay afloat. We’ve been asked to make direct donation available for those who want to give beyond that, which you can do via PayPal or Square Cash, with our gratitude::
